Adyen, Klarna Deliver Online Invoice Payments for Airline Tickets
Feb. 6, 2014
Dutch e-commerce acquirer and processor Adyen and Klarna, a PSP based in Stockholm, Sweden, have partnered to offer travelers a way to pay for airline tickets online via invoice. The process will enable consumers to pay for airline tickets they purchase online in installments up to 24 months. The companies announced Tuesday that SAS, Scandanavia’s largest carrier and the ninth largest in Europe, will be the first airline to offer the service.
Paying online by invoice is popular in many European countries, notably Sweden and Germany, where Adyen said the practice is favored by 21 and 11 percent of shoppers respectively.
“Adyen is delighted to partner with Klarna to offer merchants in the airline industry a payment method that has been popular amongst online shoppers for other types of purchases for some time,” said Roelant Prins, CCO of Adyen. “SAS has become the first airline to offer installment payments using Klarna and we are confident more airlines operating in the German and Swedish markets will adopt this new option in the near future.”
