CardNotPresent.com is an independent voice generating original news, information, education and inspiration for and about the companies and people operating in the card-not-present space—one of the only sources of content focused solely on this growing segment of the payments industry. Our only product is information. Our only goal is to provide it in an unbiased manner to our subscribers.

The company’s media platforms include the CardNotPresent.com portal, the hub for news, information and analysis about the payments issues that most affect merchants operating in the space; the CNP Report, an e-newsletter delivering that focused information directly to your email inbox twice a week with no extraneous clutter; the CNP Expo, an annual gathering of the leading companies in the space from the smallest e-commerce Websites and technology providers to global retailers and payment processors; and the CNP Awards, an annual event honoring the products and solutions CNP merchants rely on most to increase sales.

The Founder

Steven Casco is the founder and publisher of CardNotPresent.com, a leading resource for e-commerce, catalogue and other merchants that accept customer- and card-not-present payments.

From 2005 to 2010, Casco served in various roles at Prepaid Media, a company focused solely on the burgeoning prepaid card industry. In 2005 he helped lead the creation and operation of the Prepaid Card Expo, the first trade show and conference for the industry. After the Expo was sold in 2007 to IIR USA, Prepaid Media continued as a B2B media company, where Casco served as the primary developer and technological force behind Paybefore.com, the leading publication for the prepaid and stored value card industry.

In 2007, Paybefore.com was named Best Financial Website by Ektron, Inc. From 2007 to 2010 Casco served as Senior Vice President and eventually, President of Paybefore. In 2011, Paybefore.com was acquired by Informa (LSE: INF.L), a London-based publisher, trade show organizer, business and academic information provider and the parent company of IIR USA.

Prior to Prepaid Media, Casco had successful stints as an entrepreneur, published author, University faculty member and guest lecturer. In 1996, Mr. Casco founded @eaze Productions, Inc., a media and custom software company where he served as President until its acquisition in 2000 by Conceptware AG a leading German software company.

Following the acquisition, Casco published his first book in the field of Internet and Software Security and joined the faculty of Northeastern University in Boston. He has also been invited to serve as a guest lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Casco received his bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Editor-in-Chief, Partner

As editor-in-chief of CardNotPresent.com, D.J. Murphy has day-to-day control of the editorial content on the Website and serves as the publication’s main reporter and writer. He brings more than 15 years of media and corporate experience to the company.

Prior to CardNotPresent.com, Murphy served as Associate Editor for Paybefore—a family of primarily electronic publications focused on the prepaid card industry—where he wrote, edited and produced its most-read publication, Paybefore News and created its non-U.S. counterpart Paybefore News International. He also contributed heavily to Paybefore’s other publications: Paybefore Update, Paybefore Magazine and Paybefore Legal.

During his career, Murphy has served in a variety of roles in both new and traditional media including as an internal publications writer/editor and corporate communications manager at Sovereign Bank, a producer at ABC's Enhanced Television, an editor and writer at ESPN.com and in ESPN's television programming department. He has also worked as a freelance writer and columnist.

Director of Communications

Goldsmith brings more than 35 years of journalism and communications experience to CNP and most recently was Director of Communications and Public Relations for the Electronic Transactions Association in Washington, DC, where he was editor/publisher of Transactions Trends magazine and ETA's Currents electronic newsletter and responsible for corporate and member communications as well as media relations.

Prior to that, he served in similar capacities for the Rural Community Assistance Program and the National Association of Environmental Managers. He also was president of HealthTech Exhibitions, which organized conferences and trade shows in Shanghai, China and was founding editor of Financial Product News and associate editor of Employee Benefit News for Enterprise Communications in McLean, VA.
